There is something special about knowing that an entire church is opening the same book of the Bible together. This September, Wildwood will spend 30 days reading through the Gospel of Mark—children, students, and adults all encountering the same stories of Jesus together.
Our prayer is that as we read, reflect, and worship together, we’ll encounter Jesus in fresh and unexpected ways.
So, what makes Mark’s Gospel unique?
In your Bible, it goes Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—but most biblical scholars believe Mark was actually the first Gospel written. And when you begin reading, you’ll notice something almost immediately: Mark moves!
Jesus goes here. Jesus heals there. Crowds gather. Disciples follow. Something happens and then, immediately, we’re off to the next thing. There’s an urgency to Mark’s Gospel. The Good News is on the move, and it needs to be shared.
This isn’t a slow biography of Jesus’ life. Mark invites us into the action as God’s Kingdom breaks into the world through Christ. Along the way, we’ll see Jesus heal, teach, challenge, serve, suffer, and ultimately reveal what it means to follow Him.
So, open your Bible and read along with us. Ask questions. Pay attention to what surprises you. Talk about what you’re discovering with your family, friends, class, or small group.
And don’t be afraid of the big questions. Faith doesn’t require us to avoid questions. Faith invites us to seek.
