A Message from Rev. Rhett- Together Becoming

Jan 5, 2024    Rev. Rhett Ansley

A couple of years ago, everything in ministry felt uncertain to me. The worst of a global pandemic was behind us and it felt like the time when the church should boldly proclaim a new beginning, but within The United Methodist Church a new challenge was in front of us.

When Wildwood chose to remain a United Methodist Church, I was very pleased because I knew that you were making a decision to be exactly who you are: a welcoming congregation that intentionally nurtures space where people can grow in faith, ask the difficult questions of faith, and never have to feel ashamed for walking into a space that keeps grace and compassion at its core.

Our church is not the same place it was two years ago...and it shouldn't be. We've welcomed over 200 new friends who have brought new and renewed ministry, are serving in leadership roles, and I know my life is enriched because of their presence and witness for Jesus Christ. We are becoming -- in a state of being made new, transformed, being made stronger -- and we are doing this together.

This month, we commit ourselves to celebrating the way God has come to be among us and within us....the ways God transforms our lives, never gives up on us, and promises to bring every good work to completion. We dream. We stand on God's promises and release our hearts and imaginations to that which can only be done with the guidance of God's Holy Spirit. We open our hearts and minds, let go of some of the weighty things, and are set free for God our Creator to continue to do this exciting thing as we are together becoming. - Rev. Rhett
