Community Assistance Ministries

Go therefore and make disciples...

Wildwood strives to provide faith-based, community-wide solutions to individuals and families that need hope for a better future.  Whether the need is a ramp enabling a wheelchair-bound individual to achieve a better quality of life, a family in need of groceries, or parents unable to provide gifts for their children at Christmas, Wildwood offers services year-round.  Our outreach spreads from Magnolia to as far away as Honduras so see where your talents can be used for the Glory of God!
Food Pantry – Each Thursday (with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas week) we serve clients from 10am to 12:30pm.
For more information, please contact Cindy O’Donnell (Coordinator).
Houston Furniture Bank – Downsizing? Remodeling?  The HFB can use your gently used furniture and household items to bless others.  For a very minimal (tax deductible) fee (<$100), they will pick up an entire truck full of furniture/items allowing their liaison groups to offer options to families in need.  Visit their website for more pick-up information.  For drop-offs, they are located at 295 Sawdust Rd., Houston, TX 77380 – (713) 842-9771.  Hours are Tuesday-Saturday: 9-6; Monday: 9-5; Sunday: Closed.  (Please call ahead to make drop-off/pick-up arrangements.)
Ramps & Home Repair – Volunteers gather regularly to help provide home repair, ramps and give attention to special projects. If you know of someone in need of assistance or would like to volunteer, please contact Mike Cooley
Resume Building and Financial Planning, if you have a desire to help build these new programs contact Cindy O'Donnell.
Disaster Response Team – You never know when a moment of crisis will come and your neighbors will be in need. Wildwood works with the Texas Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church to focus teams to those places in greatest need. Work here may include transporting equipment and supplies to disaster areas, placing tarps on homes to prevent water damage, working on homes damaged by a disaster, or being a listening ear to those in crisis. If you would like to serve others in this way, please contact Mike Cooley.
Family Promise – It is our hope to become active partners with this organization in 2022.  Family Promise understands the needs of vulnerable families and offer innovative programs — such as tenancy preparation, financial literacy, and virtual career pathway training — to address them in a cost-effective, targeted approach. Their static site was completed early in 2022 and church partners will assist with evening meals and overnight hosting.  To learn more, visit their website.
Stitches of Love – Our newest group is designed to bless shut-ins and those going through medical procedures by providing prayer shawls and lap blankets.  If you knit or crochet and are interested in this ministry, please contact Cindy O’Donnell.
We have donated yarn, patterns, etc. to get you started.
Hearts & Hugs Bear Ministry – Do you like to sew? Come help us make homemade stuffed bears to go to children in need. These bears are shared within the community with children who need special comfort, at baptisms, in moments of crisis, and in hospitals around the world. To volunteer, contact Chris DuBois.
Beyond the Walls – Beyond the Walls is an annual event serving the greater-Magnolia community through a focused day of service. The focus is on building relationships that share the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.
Beyond the Walls 2021 was a great success!!  Thank you to everyone who helped!  We made over 180 breakfast bags for Meals on Wheels, over 275 dog and cat food bags, over 300 dog and cat treats for Meals on Wheels client's pets, and some beautiful art pieces for the clients themselves.  There were also 50 birthday boxes and over 70 soup mixes made for the food pantry.  100+ hygiene bags were stuffed and 200+ more bags were made ready to stuff!  Numerous beautiful handmade cards to be delivered to those with a prayer request!  Also over 170 prison ministry bags were decorated!
Seasonal Collections – There are special invitations throughout the year to share specific items with those in need in the community. Opportunities include Christmas gifts, items needed for children in coordination with local school counselors, summer food supplies in partnership with Society of Samaritans, and other special ways to share with others. Clear drop-off locations are always available at the entrances to worship spaces or in the church office.
